Programs

GLOBIO is designed for kids, with support for those who help kids learn. It has a user interface that graphically embraces the spirit and joy of learning. Four program areas summarize GLOBIO’s focus on development—create the world’s best kids content (Glossopedia), a global community to connect kids (Billabong), help adults help kids to learn (Outreach) and continue expanding content kids need to learn (Visual ARC).

Glossopedia™

Glossopedia, is our free, safe, multimedia online interactive encyclopedia, connecting kids to the world by supporting explorations of nature, animals, science, and culture. It was initiated out of need—the web was void of places for kids to learn. GLOBIO owns most of the content you explore in Glossopedia and therefore had the opportunity to create a resource like no other on the web. Read More

Billabong: Online Global Children’s Community

GLOBIO’s long term goal is to create a global children’s online community, a place where kids discover the world and each other, called Billabong. Stay up to date on the growth of Billabong by subscribing to our free enews for adults or for educators. Subscribe Now

Educator Training and Outreach

GLOBIO’s International Biodiversity Workshops™ (IBWs) provide professional development training to ensure teachers have the skills, content knowledge, and resources to connect kids to the environment, to action, and to other kids worldwide. Read More

Bring-A-Book

Many children around the world have never had a book of their own. With the help of people like you, inspired by the desire to increase literacy world-wide, GLOBIO’s Bring-A-Book is changing the future for children around the world.  Change starts with world travelers deciding to make the small effort of packing a book with them on a trip. This simple act can make a big difference in the life of a child. Read More

Visual ARC

GLOBIO is unique among education nonprofits because of our ownership of the Visual ARC, an archive of rich-media assets including photographs, video, film, audio, animations, and maps.
